James Corden opens up on losing over a stone in lifestyle overhaul after ‘trying every diet in the world’
James Corden has shared an update on his lifestyle overhaul which has seen him lose 23 pounds.
The Gavin and Stacey star previously confessed he is ‘fed up’ with his appearance and vowed to make 2021 the year he would improve his fitness for himself.
James, who has partnered with WW on the journey, spoke to Zoe Ball about how he has changed his mindset after trying ‘every single diet in the world’.
He explained: ‘I’ve lost, like, 23 pounds which is, what, a stone and a half.
‘This is my tip, and I’m not for one minute saying that I’ve cracked this, but I’ve done every single diet in the world, I’ve done them all right and what I’ve realised is the notion of going on a diet is wrong.
‘You’re not going on a diet, you’re going to change the way you eat and you’re going to change the way you eat forever. Just see this as “this is how you eat now.”‘
In the same Radio 2 interview, James was asked about the future of his comedy Gavin and Stacey, which he writes and stars in with Ruth Jones.
The actor reprised his role as Smithy for the Christmas special in 2019 and has been asked about whether it could come back ever since.
James confessed he and Ruth ‘have not had a single conversation’ about more episodes, but thinks it would be a ‘shame’ not to explore what happened after Ruth’s character Nessa proposed to Smithy.
‘That’s certainly my feeling and I think Ruth feels the same. It doesn’t feel like the end of a book but the end of a chapter. If we did another that would be the end of it,’ he said.
He went on: ‘That’s why we wrote it without telling anyone, we didn’t want to make anything that would let any body down.
‘My hunch is no one will ever know if it’s coming until we’ve got it but we haven’t had a single conversation about it. You’ve got to organically wait for the ideas to arrive.’
