Dua Lipa stunned at the Brit Awards on Tuesday night with a memorable performance and acceptance speech, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted unlikely similarities her routine and one from the X Factor back in 2016.

The singer won acclaim for her elaborate, scene-switching performance that took her from a London underground train to the O2 Arena.

But as it turns out, it bears a surprising resemblance to a routine delivered by Honey G on The X Factor.

The comparison was spotted by TikTok user Ryan O’Connor, who posted side by side videos of the two, while other fans also made the connection.

Both clips begin with the singers in an empty tube station, before they climb on a train with their backing dancers.

The performances then cut to the live stage, with train doors revealing the stars both pumping their fists to the music.

The coincidences between the two led Ryan to joke: ‘Honey G walked so Dua Lipa could run.’

It comes after Dua demanded a pay rise for nurses and other frontline workers during her appearance at the Brits.

The 25-year-old made a plea to Prime Minister Boris Johnson while accepting her Brit Award for best British female solo artist, saying she would be sharing her trophy with Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, the emeritus professor of nursing at the University of West London.

Dua said that Dame Elizabeth has said there is a ‘massive disparity between gratitude and respect for frontline workers’, added: ‘It’s very good to clap for them, but we need to pay them.

As well as winning the best British female solo artist award, Dua’s album Future Nostalgia was named the British album of the year, beating Arlo Parks’ Collapsed in Sunbeams, Celeste’s Not Your Muse, J Hus’s Big Conspiracy and Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure?

The star also treated those at the O2 Arena with a medley from the album, performing Love Again, Physical, Pretty Please, Hallucinate and Don’t Start Now.

Dua was, however, criticised for calling for a pay rise for frontline workers when she holidayed during the pandemic.

The Brit Awards 2021 is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
