The saying goes “Suns out, buns out” and as a nation we love nothing more than basking in the glorious sunshine whenever we get the chance.

And getting our kit off at the same time.

While it may seem like the only way to keep cool and survive the sweltering heat, it’s actually not.

Covering up when the sun is beating down on you will actually keep you cooler.

When the sun rays and warm temperature hits your exposed skin it sets your senses alright making you hotter, so shielding your skin from the sun will prevent you from feeling hot and sweaty.

And aside from making you hotter, there are some trends and items of clothing that are fashion no-nos.

Here, Fabulous’ fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend reveals the skin baring trends that you should avoid this summer.

CUT-OUTS

Beit your hips, chest or abs it’s time to put cut-outs to bed.

The trend has had its day now and has become old-hat .

And aside from being naff you’re always one Pina Colada away from having a fashion mishap with too many holes in your outfit to keep track of.

Plus, if you’re planning on basking in the sun all day you know the tan lines the next day will be awful.

HOT PANTS

You may buy them thinking they’re not hot pants, but they are.

Even if you are lucky enough to have the body of a supermodel they still reveal that little bit too much.

Fashion’s finest celebrities such as Hailey Bieber have even put their skimpy denims away in favour of more laid-back and stylish longer styles.

BOOB TUBES

Boob tubes are back, thanks to A-listers like Kendall Jenner and Barbie’s Margot Robbie wearing dresses and tops in the strapless style.

However, firstly they’re annoying to fiddle with and hoik up all the time.

Secondly, unless you have a sweetheart neckline, the straight across silhouette gives an appearance of broader shoulders and the dreaded sausage boob.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with the ‘sausage boob’ its the shape of your bust that is created by boob tubes or bandeaux bikinis.

PEEK-A-BOO PANTS

The whale tail or exposed thong trend crept back into the fashion fold last year, following a Y2K resurgence.

But Bella Hadid and her trendy pals have put their pants away, meaning you should too.

Flashing your knickers should only be by mistake, not on purpose.
