The Friends cast have shared an official teaser for the reunion episode, and could we BE any more excited?
Set to a slowed-down version of the theme song, I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts, it shows the cast walking away into the distance together.
Clearly still the best of friends, David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green) and Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) look to have their arms wrapped around each other, while Lisa, Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller) and Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) seem to be holding hands.
Playing on the episode title format throughout the 10 seasons, it’s simply captioned: ‘The One Where They Get Back Together’ and excuse us while we go and sob in a corner for a bit.
All of the cast, except Courteney, shared the sweet clip on Instagram (maybe she missed the memo, but to be fair, she is a very busy lady).
Matt wrote of the reunion, which is set to air on HBO Max on May 27: ‘So great to see you everyone,’ while Jennifer added: ‘It’s official! The #FriendsReunion premieres May 27th on @HBOMax — could we BE any more excited?!’
‘The one with us finally getting together,’ Lisa added, while David referenced one of Ross and Joey’s most famous scenes together, and quipped: ‘Had a blast with the cast and a solid nap with LeBlanc.’
Meanwhile, the episode is set to star some absolutely iconic guests, including (deep breath) David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The announcement comes after Perry confirmed filming had gone ahead as he posted the first picture from the set.
He posted a picture from his make-up chair, as he looked into the mirror while a make-up artist stood beside him.
The 51-year-old captioned it: ‘Seconds before eating a makeup brush. Not to mention reuniting wth my Friends.’
The reunion is the first time the six original cast members have been together on screen since the final episode, which aired in May 2004.
The special has been forced back a number of times in lockdown, having been initially planned to launch in the US on HBO Max in summer 2020.
Meanwhile, Lisa previously promised fans that the reunion will be worth the wait.
‘There are other things in it,’ she teased to Digital Spy, adding: ‘There are other things to it; things I shouldn’t really talk about because they should be good – but those things can’t happen [right now].’
Friends: The Reunion is released on HBO Max on May 27.
