The moment fans of Netflix hit Heartstopper have been waiting for is here, as season 2 of the show is released.

Adapted from Alice Osman’s graphic novel series, the show stars Kit Connor as rugby boy Nick Nelson and Joe Locke as shy boy Charlie Spring, who strike up a romantic relationship while studying at an all-boys grammar school.

However they have to keep things on the down low due to Charlie being bullied and Nick having not yet come out.

It’s no surprise anticipation is high for the new series, given the first broke streaming records and propelled its young cast to stardom.

And season 2 looks set to be even better than the first, with metro.co.uk saying ’television doesn’t get any more breathtaking and enriching’.

Unmissable in other words – but if you can’t wait for your Heartstopper fix when the new episodes drop on August 3, what time should you tune in?

What time is Heartstopper season 2 released on Netflix?

Heartstopper season 2 will land on Netflix at around 8am on Thursday August 3.

This is in keeping with the release pattern of new Netflix shows at midnight San Francisco time, where the company’s HQ is located.

There are eight episodes in total in the new series, each of them with a running time of just over half an hour.

All of them will be released at once, meaning you can binge watch to your heart’s content.

What will happen in Heartstopper season 2?

The synopsis for season two teases: ‘With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.’

The trailer suggests we have a lot to look forward to, as Charlie and Nick’s relationship deepens – but while Charlie is shouting it to the heavens, Nick is still keeping things quiet.

Expect more challenges for the characters in season 2 (Picture: Netflix)

With season two’s new characters including Nick’s dad Stephane and brother David (played by Thibault de Montalembert and Jack Barton), we’ll have to keep watching to see how his attempts to come out to his family unfold.

Meanwhile, Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) and Tara (Corinna Brown)  face challenges in their own relationship as things grow more serious, and Elle (Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao) try to work out if they can make it as more than friends.

Other new characters, meanwhile, include Mr. Farouk (Nima Taleghani), who may be a romantic interest for Mr. Ajayi (Fisayo Akinade), and James McEwan, a student played by Bradley Riches, who was previously unnamed.
