Angela Deem has lifted the lid on her rollercoaster relationship with Michael Ilesanmi ahead of 90 Day: The Last Resort.
The couple first started dating in 2018 after meeting online, but struggled to make their relationship work due to the huge distance between them, with Angela living in the US while Michael resides in Nigeria.
Despite their issues – and a 22-year age gap – they tied the knot in Nigeria in 2020 but have faced even more hurdles since then, with the groom’s visa issues and his shocking cheating scandal.
Many of their problems have been captured by the 90 Day Fiancé cameras – with the couple set to delve into their romance on the upcoming Last Resort spin-off.
Ahead of the episodes, Angela spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their rough patches, revealing that they are officially still married.
‘I am in love with him, but love don’t keep a person together,’ she said. ‘You both have to come to an understanding and this journey we’ve been on, it just went explosive each season and you can not script nothing like this. This is real-life people and I’m just one that’s not ashamed to show you.’
The couple came to a breaking point and turned to the TLC couples retreat to see if they could work through their issues, or whether they should walk away for good – however, Michael will be participating virtually due to visa difficulties.
They have been joined at the retreat by their fellow 90 Day alums Ed and Liz, Jovi and Yara, Kalani and Asuelu, and Molly and Kelly.
Discussing why she was able to stand by her husband’s side throughout the cheating scandal, Angela declared that she was ‘older and wiser’ – but was still unsure of whether their marriage can go the distance.
‘If I choose to stay with him – I haven’t made up my mind yet – if I choose to stay, if he don’t get this visa, I think it’s just best I let him go and let him make his own family over there,’ she continued. ‘God knows I’m not going to live in Nigeria.

‘I’m raised different, I’m raised a spoiled American, and I acknowledge it and I say it and I can’t. Two weeks is hard to stay over there enough for me and then plus I got the grandkids, so if this doesn’t work, that’s our last thing. If he don’t get the visa, there’s no alternative but me to move over there.
‘This is serious to me, this is to me the last resort. I’m getting older, and if he is making me think he’s playing with me or if he really is using me to come to someone else, well, you better do some changing because if you don’t…
‘Listen, I can love you from a distance and I’m going to move on because I think I waited long enough for him to change.’
We don’t have long to wait to see whether their romance crumbles under the pressure of the retreat as the Last Resort is hitting our screens later this month.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Five 90 Day Fiancé couples have reached their breaking points. In a final attempt to salvage their relationships, each couple will participate in a couples retreat to determine whether or not they can heal old wounds.
‘Alongside a team of professionals, they’ll actively navigate issues with trust, sex, jealousy, anger, and intimacy. Explosive group therapies, intense couples’ sessions, past life regressions, unique on-and-off-resort activities, and so much more ensue.
‘At the end of the retreat, each couple must decide if they will stay together or move on, separately.’
90 Day: The Last Resort premieres on August 14 on TLC.
