Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica aired their first episode 20 years ago today, and that fact is worth celebrating.

The MTV reality show followed popstars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson as they got to grips with being a married couple.

In the very first episode, just minutes into the series, Jessica, now 43, uttered some iconic words that would go down in reality TV history forever.

While tucking into her tuna dinner, she innocently asked her new husband: ‘Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish?’

Nick, now 49. stared blankly at her, so she added: ‘I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken… by the sea. Is that stupid?’

He explained that ‘Chicken of the Sea’ is the brand name, but what she was eating is actually tuna.

‘I understand now. I read it wrong,’ Jessica responded before bursting into laughter.
