‘I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street.’

An actor best known for starring in a TV series about Hercules has said he was blacklisted from Hollywood due to his conservative and Christian views.

From 1995 until 1999, Kevin Sorbo starred in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as the Greek hero.

Running for six seasons, the series became one of the highest-rated syndicated television shows in the world at that time.

The success of the show spawned the popular spin-off series Xena: Warrior Princess starring Lucy Lawless, who was introduced in a three-episode arc in the first season of Hercules.

However, Hercules was later cancelled after Kevin, now 64, declined to renew a three-year extension contract to continue his role.

But now the actor has said that soon after, work dried up, something he claims was a result of his beliefs.

‘It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative,’ he said.

‘And I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street.

‘It screams for freedom of speech. But Hollywood’s a one-way street as well. And that’s just too bad, you know. But I love the industry. I love the movies and TV,’ he added when speaking to FoxNews Digital.

Sorbo, who went on to appear in other shows including Andromeda, The O.C and Hawaii Five-O had his last TV appearance on Supergirl in 2017 and has since turned his attention to producing.

In the interview, he also addressed being banned from many social media platforms.

Describing the moves as ‘weird’, he insisted he just had a ‘different opinion’ and said other people couldn’t accept his version of the ‘truth’.

‘It was really weird. Even LinkedIn took me down! They don’t like the truth. I say on [X, formerly Twitter], I said, “I need more conspiracy theories because all of mine came true”,’ he said.

‘But did Facebook apologise for taking me down even though I was right?

‘No, because they don’t like the truth. The truth is too difficult for some people to take.’

Sorbo is a Christian and attends a nondenominational church, though he grew up as a Lutheran.

He’s said in the past that there was a ‘negativity towards Christians in Hollywood, and a negativity towards people who believe in God’.

In the past Sorbo has come under fire for sharing his views online, with former co-star Lawless slamming him in 2021 for suggesting it was ‘leftist agitators’ who stormed the Capitol.

Sorbo, who is an ardent Donald Trump supporter, had previously supported the former president’s claims that 2020 election was hit by fraud.

His response was picked up by Lawless, who hit back and wrote: ‘No, Peanut. They are not Patriots. They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors.

‘They are the douchebags that go out and do the evil bidding of people like you who like to wind them up like toys and let them do their worst. #keepingYourFilthyHandsclean #enabler.’

A few months earlier, Chrissy Teigen and Alyssa Milano had also fired back after Sorbo questioned if Joe Biden had legitimately won the election.
