‘I Said You’re One of the Best’- Edson Barboza Heaps Praises on Shane Burgos Following UFC 262
In one of the finest displays of standup fighting, ranked featherweights Shane Burgos and Edson Barboza went to war at UFC 262. For their stellar efforts, they won the Fight of the Night bonus.
Barboza, one of the best kickboxers in the UFC, displayed the prowess of his kicks in the fight, landing devastating blows throughout. However, in one of the most bizarre of knockouts in UFC, Burgos laid flatlined three seconds after Barboza landed a right flush to the chin.

Immediately after the fight, the respect between the two great competitors was clear as they interacted backstage. Barboza, the veteran, acknowledged the heart displayed by Burgos.
‘Junior’ said, “Hey man, if you hit me first I would go down too. I know that. You see my (pre-fight) interviews, I said you’re one of the best. Keep your head up. We may go fight soon again. All the best,” Barboza said.

‘Hurricane’ Burgos had to be transported to the hospital soon after. The bizarre KO, which saw Burgos face plant three seconds later after the shot landed will remain in UFC fans’ memories for a long time.

Edson Barboza elaborates on the competitive fight
In a backstage interview, Barboza said that his performances are only getting better. He also claimed that fight fans are yet to see the best of him. The fighter elaborated on how close he and his corner felt the UFC 262 main card opener was.
‘Junior’ said, “I think I won the first round for sure. I was so close to dropping him in the first round a couple times. The second round was very, very close. My coach said the first you won for sure. ‘The second one is close. Maybe you, maybe him. You need the third round.’ Thank god I connected with a good shot and got my W.
Barboza also said that he would be open for a rematch against ‘Hurricane’ in the future.
With the win over Burgos, Barboza now has momentum on his side, as he now holds a 2-1 record in the featherweight division. He will look to fight a higher-ranked opponent next. Meanwhile, the ninth-ranked Burgos is now on 2 fight losing skid. Hence, he will have to go back to the drawing board.
