Asos slash the price of glam party dress from £140 to £14 – but some say ‘it’s the worst frock they’ve ever bought’

AS summer draws to a close, many of us will be looking forward to the Xmas festivities just around the corner.

Between meals with friends and work Christmas dos, one of the most important tasks for fashionistas everywhere is finding a killer dress to see you through the season.

And now is the perfect time to bag a bargain on a glitzy gown before shops hike their prices ahead of the Xmas rush.

Savvy shoppers who are ahead of the game have found this hugely discounted Asos sequin tassel halter-neck dress – the perfect statement piece for dancing the night away – which is being sold for just £14 on Secret Sales.

That’s a whopping £126 less than its original £140 price tag, and a remarkable £63 cheaper than it’s going for on Asos’s own website.

The halter-neck sequin shard dress, available in sizes 4-18, has a dramatic open back and a kick split at the mid-calf, perfect for moving (and dancing) around comfortably.

But it’s the hundreds of sparkly green shards that will really make sure all eyes are on you whenever you wear it.

The find was shared in the Facebook group Extreme Coupons and Bargains – but despite the huge reduction, it drew rather mixed reviews.

One shopper seemingly eager to cash in on the discounted deal simply commented “stunning”.

Another commented “I love this!”

And some previous purchasers of the dress from Asos were similarly impressed, with one leaving a review saying they got “tons of compliments in this dress. People literally asked about this dress all night long.”

But the controversial frock drew rather less complimentary comments from some unsure users.

“Glue it to a stick, and you have yourself a feather duster,” one member joked. “Or could be replacement brushes in a car wash.”

Another suggested that wearing the lime look for a Christmas party would make you “look like the Grinch”.

The frock also drew some rather unflattering comparisons to Orville the Duck.

And some buyers on Asos were a little sceptical about the quality of the tasselled midi.

“Worst dress I have ever ordered,” one complained. “It’s basically paper.”

“Looks alright on,” another added, “if you plan on not moving around at all. As soon as you move the tassel things move and stick out and fall out dead easy.”

Still, for £14 it’s a pretty thrifty purchase if you’re looking for a piece to stand out this party season, as the one thing everyone seems to agree on is that it certainly turns heads.
