The Walking Dead final season finds a new home after Fox closure
As FOX closes up shop in the UK, the final season of The Walking Dead has thankfully been given a new home.
The zombie series – starring Norman Reedus (Daryl), Melissa McBride (Carol), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) – was based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book, and has terrified fans for around a decade.
Bosses have now announced The Walking Dead will be ending 2022 – after an expanded 10th season .
Luckily, British fans don’t need to worry about missing out on the final series, as the new season will air on Disney+, as will all previous episodes.
Following Disney’s acquisition of FOX, the channel will close after 17 years in the UK and stop broadcasting on Sky and Virgin Media altogether.
A spokesperson said in a statement: ‘On 30th June the FOX channel in the UK will close. Many titles will become available on Star on Disney+ and will be announced in the near future.
‘We appreciate the support of our UK fans and can’t wait to keep sharing the best stories with you.
‘Star on Disney+ serves as the home of movies and television from Disney’s creative studios, including Disney Television Studios (20th Television and ABC Signature), FX Productions and 20th Century Studios.’
The official release date for the final season is yet to be confirmed.
But if recent years are anything to go by, fresh seasons normally drop in October and run throughout November, seeing The Walking Dead take a mid-season break, to return in February.
With the coronavirus pandemic still at large, this could have affected the normal release date.
However, we’re currently expecting the final season to drop either at the end of next year or the start of 2022.
All FOX titles will be available to watch on the Star channel on Disney+ from this summer onwards.
