Josh Taylor Reveals Why He Stays Away From Home While Preparing For His Fights

On May 22, Josh Taylor will take up the toughest test of his boxing career against Jose Ramirez. The duo will go toe to toe against each other for the undisputed super-lightweight championship. Citing the responsibilities this fight carries, Taylor and Ramirez both have immersed themselves in extensive preparations. Especially Taylor, who’s living apart from his home to prepare for this fight.

Ahead of the fight, Taylor was in a chat with Top Rank Boxing. Here, he revealed why he stays away from his family and friends while preparing for his professional boxing bouts.

He said, “I’m doing it for a cause and it gives me motivation, more drive, and more determination. Because look what’s at stake, your legacy, and cementing your name in the history books so, that keeps you going.

“I’m gonna kill Ramirez”

In his last boxing outing, Taylor locked horns with Apinan Kongsong. Being a favorite in this fight, Taylor smothered Kongsong in just the first round of the clash to retain his undefeated stint and titles.

This was probably ‘The Tartan Tornado’s biggest career win, setting him up for an undisputed encounter with Jose Ramirez.

Over the past few months, Taylor has put himself in some hefty workouts. More than anyone else, he wants to enter a sheer 12-round with Ramirez, and for that, he’s looking to give his best shot in training and grilling regimes.

Can Josh Taylor crucify Jose Ramirez to become the face of the super-lightweight landscape?

Taylor is one of the brightest boxing talents to come out of Scotland. In his astonishing boxing run, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ has overpowered every opponent he’s faced.

But the Ramirez bout will ask for more than Taylor’s usual skill sets. This is because Ramirez is himself undefeated, displaying a cracking professional resume of 26-0.

Both Taylor and Ramirez are extremely smart technicians of the game. And they very well know what it takes to become a champ in and outside the game.

That said, a fight between these two is one of the most awaited boxing events of 2021, and the super-lightweight division will have an ultimate king this weekend.

Who will you be rooting for in a fight between the two?
