Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone 20th anniversary to be commemorated with two specials
Harry Potter fans, it’s time to get excited as there are two unscripted specials on the way – to celebrate the 20-year anniversary.
Side note: How has it been 20 years since we first got a glimpse inside Hogwarts?
According to Deadline, film bosses announced that they would be commemorating the movie milestone with two specials, taking us all inside the Wizarding World once more.
Warner Brothers confirmed the first of these will be a Harry Potter fan quiz competition limited series, letting the biggest Potterheads test their knowledge in a head-to-head battle.
Similar to the duel Harry and Draco Malfoy found themselves in in the Chamber of Secrets but hopefully with no snakes…
As well as this, we get to set our eyes on a retrospective special, with both shows airing later this year.
‘To celebrate the dedicated fans old and new who have passionately kept the Wizarding World magic alive in so many forms for decades, these exciting specials will celebrate their Harry Potter fandom in a must-see multiplatform TV event,’ Tom Ascheim, President of Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics for Warner Brothers said, via Deadline.
‘All Potter fans can gear up for this ultimate one-of-a-kind celebration by embracing their inner Hermione Granger and studying their Wizarding World knowledge.
‘For fans who have always wanted to discover what it might be like to take the O.W.L. exams, this is as close as they are going to get!’
Someone who might want to tune in is Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in all eight films.
While fans have watched the franchise multiple times and could recount scenes word for word, it turns out the actor hasn’t seen most of the movies.
Spilling the beans on life at Hogwarts, the 32-year-old told Variety: ‘I’ve probably seen the first three at the premieres, but after that I stopped watching them.’
Rupert revealed that this will probably change now that he has become a dad – with wife Georgia Groome welcoming their daughter Wednesday last May.
‘But now that I have a daughter, I will probably have to watch them with her,’ he added.
Someone accio him that boxset immediately.
