PlayStation, Epic and Activision Set to feature at Summer Game Fest As Geoffrey Keighley Hints at ‘big announcements’

Summer Game Fest is making a return in 2021 and based on the recent lineup seems to be bigger and better than ever. The event will feature gaming tycoons like PlayStation, Blizzard Entertainment, Devolver Digital, and Electronic Arts, which have declined to participate in other gaming events.

The Summer Game Fest debuted in 2020, following the cancellation of E3 that year due to Covid-19. A live performance by Weezer will kick-start the event this year on June 10th. They will debut a brand new stream-safe game soundtrack song so that creators can watch the event along with their fans.

The kickoff day will also feature digital game reveals hosted by Geoff Keighley which is shaping up to be “a spectacular showcase of world premieres.”. Aside from the aforementioned companies, major developers like 2K, Activision, Amazon Games, Annapurna Interactive, Bandai Namco Entertainment, and Battlestate Games will be in attendance at the event.

Gaming fans will only have more to look forward to following Summer Game Fest. Ubisoft’s gaming showcase titled ‘Ubisoft Forward’ will begin on June 12th. During the same week, viewers can catch the Steam Next Fest on June 16th. The month ends with the most-anticipated event of them all EA Play. Fans can watch this gaming expose on July 22nd.

Other than the Summer Game Fest PlayStation looks to take advantage of the PC market

PlayStation is also planning to port more games to PC to expand its presence. As of now, only three games developed by PlayStation Studio are available on Steam. These are Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Helldivers, and Predator: Hunting Grounds. However, based on their Steam Curator page there are more games from the developer which we should be seeing in the near future.

During its 2020 Corporate report Sony said, “We will explore expanding our first-party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.” They have certainly stuck to this vision and are reaping the benefits.
