He spent years trying to murder people on The Simpsons, but it appears Springfield’s greatest villain finally met his match this Halloween.
Sideshow Bob was first introduced at the very beginning of the series and has had numerous attempts to kill Bart Simpson foiled over the years.
One of the legendary sitcom’s most notorious recurring villains, Bob has also rigged mayoral elections and attempted to murder Bart’s aunt Selma.
But now Bob, whose real name is Robert Terwilliger, has been killed off himself, with the latest Treehouse of Horror episode depicting his grisly end.
In a future parallel timeline in which Bob has successfully managed to murder Bart, Lisa has become an expert in true crime and a police consultant.
She initially enlists Bob’s help to solve a series of murders in Springfield, but it’s revealed that she has an evil split personality before she kills Bob herself.

The Treehouse of Horror series, which began in The Simpsons second season in 1990, are a departure from the main show and are split into three mini-episodes.
A landmark episode in every Simpsons season, they parody famous horrors, with The Shining, The Twilight Zone, and Nightmare on Elm Street among those referenced.
Praising the episode, one fan on Twitter said ‘The strongest part was Lisa and Sideshow Bob,’ while another said: ‘I knew Lisa was going to kill Sideshow Bob!’

However, many Simpsons fans know that Treehouse of Horror episodes are often non-canonical, which means Bob could be back in Springfield very soon.
Other famous Halloween episodes have seen Homer transported into our own world, Maggie grow alien tentacles, and Mr. Burns turn into a vampire.
It’s also not the first time Bob has ‘died’ on the show, with season 19 episode Funeral for a Friend containing a scene that shows Bob faking his own demise.
Kelsey Grammer, who has voiced Bob since his first appearance on the show, recently made his big return to TV in a reboot of iconic sitcom Frasier.
Unfortunately, the reboot doesn’t seem to have gone over as well as some fans had hoped, with Metro.co.uk‘s Jenna Maxwell claiming it misses some of the show’s most vital ingredients.
Watch The Simpsons on Disney Plus.
