Rowan Atkinson to star in silent movie about his life
Rowan Atkinson will star in a silent movie about his life.
The actor has used Cine film to shoot behind-the-scenes footage throughout his career that is set to be included in the upcoming project.
His close friend Michael Fenton Stevens – who has worked extensively with Rowan over the years – revealed the plans during a chat with The Daily Mirror.
He told the publication: ‘Very early on in Rowan Atkinson’s career he started Cine filming his own life.
‘He has a great store of Cine film, so there will be a silent movie of Rowan’s career.’
It comes after Rowan previously admitted earlier this year he doesn’t ‘much enjoy’ playing Mr Bean – although he is set to reprise the role for a new movie.
The 66-year-old will play the iconic character once again for a cartoon film after the success of the animated spin-off’s third series in 2019, but he hopes his time in the role is nearing its end.
Speaking to Radio Times, he said: ‘Having made an animated TV series, we’re now in the foothills of developing an animated movie for Mr Bean – it’s easier for me to perform the character vocally than visually.
‘I don’t much enjoy playing him. The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end of it.’
Rowan also said he doesn’t really like ‘making anything’ – although he will make one exception.
He continued: ‘I don’t actually like the process of making anything – with the possible exception of Blackadder, because the responsibility for making that series funny was on many shoulders, not just mine.’
It was later reported that writer Richard Curtis was said to be working on a new version of Mr Bean, who fans could expect to be older and grumpier.
Richard said via The Sun: ‘Old Bean is what we’re now thinking of doing.’
