Mikey Garcia Criticizes the Referee After Josh Taylor’s Win Over Jose Ramirez

Undefeated titlist Josh Taylor appeared flawless in his latest win against Jose Ramirez. He claimed the undisputed super lightweight belts with a UD win. However, he still had to encounter a few criticisms regarding his stance in the fight.

Welterweight elite Mikey Garcia ridiculed the referee for not putting a check on Taylor’s activities. Per Garcia, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ had closed the gap unfairly several times, and it thwarted Jose Ramirez’s game plan.

In a chat with ES NEWS, Mikey Garcia said, “I think there were times where he could have, maybe you know given stricter warnings or something. I mean, I don’t know. If you give harsh warnings to the fighter, maybe Josh stops hugging as much and that would allow Jose to work on the inside.”

He added, “When you don’t give those warnings, those harsh warnings, fighter keeps holding and tying up on the inside and you are taking away Jose’s game plan, Jose’s strategy. But I mean that’s boxing, that’s okay.”

Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez- What a battle!

The super-lightweight unification fight absolutely lived up to the hype, presenting fans with a gruesome encounter between two undefeated champions. However, Taylor proved to be the better man tonight.

After dominating the battle for a brief period, Taylor secured two big knockdowns in rounds six and seven. The first one came from a thunderous counter left in round six. It was followed with an uppercut in round seven.

Although Ramirez returned from those setbacks and continued fighting till the final bell, he couldn’t offer much from his side. Hence, Josh Taylor claimed the win with a 114-112 score. He now holds all four world super-lightweight titles under his name.
