BTS have already bagged three prizes at the Billboard Music Awards 2021 before the ceremony officially got under way.

The South Korean group, who recently released new single Butter, have scooped top duo/group, top song sales artist and top social artist, the Billboard Music Awards confirmed.

Only top selling song remains, and in that category the guys face competition from Gabby Barett ft. Charlie Puth with I Hope, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s summer hit WAP, Megan Thee Stallion again for Savage and Blinding Lights by The Weeknd.

The awards themselves don’t kick off until 8pm ET, which is 1am over here.

BTS – RM, Jin, V, Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga and Jimin- are set to perform Butter for the first time on the night.

The members confirmed the special performance in a press conference on the day they released the track.

The music video sent their fans wild with many getting hyped about Jungkook’s ‘eyebrow piercing’ in the video – which was then revealed to be fake.

‘For every song, the first performance is always… we’re anxious and excited, but also anxious and nervous’ Suga told Metro.co.uk and other press.

‘The Billboard Awards for us is a very significant, important, meaningful stage and event. I think we’re all very excited.

‘The fact we’re nominated in four categories is not easy of course so it’s a great honour.

‘Especially top selling song and top selling sales artist – these two nominations are a first for BTS so that made me feel really great.’

As expected for the IDOL singers, they totally smashed a record with the premiere of the video, with around 3.8million tuning in to watch live.

Taylor Swift has already been named top Billboard 200 artist and top female artist, The Weeknd has bagged top male artist and Pop Smoke – who died in February 2020, won top new artist, top rap artist, top rap male artist and top rap album for Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon.
