BTS’ Jungkook and his purple hair all anyone is talking about after Billboard Music Awards Butter performance

BTS’s Jungkook was trending in all his purple-haired glory following the group’s dazzling performance of Butter at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.

The seven-piece – also made up of RM, Jimin, Jin, J-Hope, Suga and V – took to the stage to perform their latest banger for the first time live and, well, much as we expected, they absolutely brought it.

Can you say superstar glow?

However, in between the dance moves, the eyebrow raises and the charm, Army absolutely lost it by Jungkook’s presence, just days after we were left gasping by his (albeit fake) eyebrow piercing for the Butter MV.

The performance – which was recorded from Seoul – took us through BTS’ backstage dressing room and onto a red carpet fitted for the awards, as Jungkook opened the clip.

Joining the rest of the group, BTS – who’d already won awards before the ceremony had begun – went on to slay from a massive stage, with the chart-toppers showing off their impressive moves in front of a glittering globe.

And judging by the sheer amount of tweets directed at Jungkook, his performance was on point with many dubbing it the ‘highlight’ of an already-flawless display.

One excited fan noted: ‘Just watched the BTS billboard perfo & Jungkook’s dance break was the freaking highlight. Ok he stole the show he looked so hot, his vocals were on point, his dance moves were just so smooth, his facial expressions and smirk.. Too much self confidence man.’

Others wondered whether the intro, which saw Jungkook peer at himself in a mirror, illustrated the shift from the Dynamite era to that of Butter.

One mused: ‘Have you noticed? dynamite is faintly playing in the background and jungkook changes from the denim jacket to the black suit! it’s the end of the dynamite era and the beginning of the butter era! [sic].’

And one perhaps needed a little fresh air: ‘The indigo purple hair jungkook is just sending me into orbit. i’m just a shell of my former self. i’m just not here [sic].’

Elsewhere at last night’s ceremony, hosted by Nick Jonas, The Weeknd – who was snubbed by the Grammys earlier this year – dominated the awards taking home 10 prizes.

The Save Your Tears hitmaker was crowned top artist, top hot 100 artists, top male artist, top radio songs artist, top R&B artist and top R&B male artist, while also taking home to top Hot 100 song, top radio song and top R&B song prizes, and his album After Hours was named top R&B album.

Pink was also the recipient of the Billboard icon award, while Drake was crowned artist of the decade and Houston rapper Trae tha Truth nabbed the change maker prize.

Drake, who also picked up the award for top streaming songs artist, dedicated his win for artist of the decade to his loved ones.

Bad Bunny scooped four awards, Pop Smoke was posthumously honoured with five awards and country star Gabby Barrett took three.

Taylor Swift was named top female artist and top Billboard 200 Artist, Lady Gaga won top dance/electronic album for Chromatica and top dance/electronic artist, and Machine Gun Kelly won both top rock artist and top rock album for Tickets To My Downfall.
