Iowa Hawkeyes’ Jordan Bohannon Suffers Head Injury Following Physical Altercation

Players often face injuries during the course of a season because of playing or training. But Iowa Hawkeyes guard Jordan Bohannon is currently dealing with a head injury after dealing with a scary situation. The school revealed through a statement that Bohannon was physically assaulted.

Had it not been for his friends, the situation could have got worse and the school expressed their gratitude to them. He is currently receiving medical attention for this “serious head injury.”

Although he wasn’t the #1 contributor on the team, Bohannon was an important part of coach Fran McCaffery’s side. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.4 assists and shot 39% from three last season. His role on the team was to provide sharpshooting, and he excelled in that role.

Bohannon was planning to return for a fifth season because the NCAA allowed an extra year of eligibility. Since Bohannon wasn’t a top prospect for the Draft, he chose to return for his fifth season. He will hope to help the Hawkeyes do what they couldn’t last season and win silverware in the upcoming season.

Jordan Bohannon will technically play his sixth season with Iowa Hawkeyes

Bohannon joined the Hawkeyes back in 2016. He was a four-star prospect then, and snapped up at the idea of playing for a college in his hometown. Right from his debut in the 2016-17 season, Bohannon was a designated sharpshooter. He adapted to that role well and was always contributing silently.

Unfortunately, in his fourth season, Bohannon took a medical red shirt because of an injury. It was a successive hip injury which ruled him out of the season. He returned strong next season and picked up where he left. Heading into his final season with Iowa, he will be hoping to do more of the same.

Coach McCaffery is delighted to have Bohannon back on the team, and is excited to see how he steps up as a leader on the team. “This guy has proven it at this level, he gives you versatility, he gives you toughness and he gives you veteran leadership on a team that is going to be younger,” McCaffery said. “That’s exactly what you need.”

It will be an interesting season for the Hawkeyes, as they prepare life without Luka Garza. Perhaps it could lead to the start of another promising career. Fans will be eagerly hoping for that.
