The new Doctor Who companion has been spotted jumping into action on set after reports that Millie Gibson is leaving the BBC series.
On Christmas Day, Millie’s character Ruby Sunday made her debut on the show alongside the Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, as the pair faced treacherous and menacing goblins.
A trailer for the upcoming 2024 season showed Ruby and the Doctor travelling in the Tardis, wearing eye-catching 1960s-esque ensembles and going head-to-head against a villain played by RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon.
However, it was recently claimed that Millie’s time on Doctor Who will be short-lived, as Andor star Varada Sethu has joined the cast as a new companion.
The Star Wars actress has now been seen on set, wearing a retro yellow dress while running away from some sort of danger hand-in-hand with the Doctor, who was dressed up in a blue suit and pink bowtie.
Varada’s hair was styled in an elegant updo, while she had to grapple with sprinting in white pointy heels.

In one of the photos obtained by The Mirror, Varada and Ncuti seemed to be larking around on set, with the Sex Education star gesturing to his face as she patted him on the back.
In another image, she was photographed beaming from ear to ear as a member of the crew wrapped her in a blanket.
The actors were spotted filming on Penarth Pier in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales, which was transformed to look as though it was a 1950s setting.

It’s claimed that the stars were working with a set design made to look like an American cinema from that time period, complete with vintage cars as well.
It was recently reported that after making her entrance as Ruby in the Doctor Who Christmas special, Millie was already being written out of the series by showrunner Russell T Davies.
An insider told The Mirror: ‘Millie Gibson has all but left now and there’s a brand new companion, which is really exciting.

‘Russell is keeping things moving and isn’t letting the grass grow, that’s for sure.’
Ncuti appeared to respond to the reports with a message of support for Millie, posting a picture of them together in character on his Instagram Story with the message: ‘My lil ♊❤️.’
The source described new cast member Varada as a ‘real gem’, stating: ‘Russell was just blown away by her talent.
‘The cast and crew have really warmed to her and he’s sure the fans will too.’
Metro.co.uk previously contacted the BBC and Millie Gibson’s representatives for comment.
Doctor Who will return later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
