Stipe Miocic Not Concerned About Jon Jones’s Intentions

Stipe Miocic, who lost his heavyweight belt to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260, is now on a mission to regain his throne. But with Ngannou set to fight Derrick Lewis next, Miocic might need another opponent to remain active.

Many suggested Jon Jones as an opponent. However, ‘Bones’, who wants the biggest draw upon his debut in the new division, turned down the possibilities of him fighting Miocic next.

Recently, in an interview with Submission Radio, Miocic shared his reaction to Jones’s opinion. “It is what it is. I mean, listen, I’m not a matchmaker, I am not worried about it, what he thinks or says. I am gonna get my rematch and get my belt back, you know. My punch drunk a**,” he said.

However, Jones has mentioned that he would like to fight Miocic at some point. ‘Bones’ has vowed to defend the heavyweight title against the Cleveland firefighter, given he manages to capture it.

Stipe Miocic vs Jon Jones: A fight for the legacy of both men

Jones has been unbeaten inside the Octagon. His only loss to date has been via a debatable disqualification. So every opponent he fights has the chance to be named as the first man to hand him the first legitimate loss of his career. Even Miocic recognized that it will be an extra feather in his cap if he can be that fighter.

Yeah, of course. I mean he is one of the pound-for-pound best fighters ever, of all time. He’s done so well. It’ll be great. I mean, I am not gonna worry about what he wants to do and how much he wants to get paid. I’m here for one goal, that’s taking my belt back,” said the former champion.

A fight between Miocic and Jones will be an impressive spectacle for the fans. One can only hope that fight actually happens after ‘Bones‘ finally kicks off his career in the heavyweight division of the UFC.
