A very crafty gamer has made a handheld gaming device from knock-off smartwatch and controller parts, and it works surprisingly well.
Gamers love to invent and customise and we’ve seen many times now, how they’ve found highly creative ways to get their fix, like using hot chilli to power a Sonic handheld game.
Another ridiculous gaming device to be proud of, is when a YouTuber took things to the next level earlier this year, by creating a the £277,000 Nintendo PlayStation from scratch.
Now, a Reddit user has found a clever way to make an emulation handheld console with a knock-off smartwatch attached to a third party PlayStation 4 controller, worth £37 in total.
R3V3RB_7 explained that they added parts from old mobile phones to a generic Android smartwatch, that cost him $35 (£27), then connected it to a third party PlayStation 4 controller worth $13 (£10).
The watch is strapped to the middle of the controller, and connected via Bluetooth. The controller works both in the watch interface and in games played through an emulator.
The video they published even showed them playing Game Boy Advance platformer Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow with no issues.
Commentors were equally amused as they were impressed, and asked how the creator even got the idea to to build the device.
‘I looked at both of these devices after cleaning my room and thought, ‘Why not?” they replied.
Another commentor applauded their creativity, saying, ‘This is the most MacGyver DIY [do it yourself] hack job I’ve seen in a long time. Bravo.’

We now know that with some technical knowledge you can build a handheld gaming device for just £37, though you’d have to play the emulated games on a very tiny screen.
It all made one Redditor wonder: ‘I am sure this is exactly how the original developers envisioned people playing these games. On a knock-off Apple Watch paired with a knock-off PlayStation controller,’ Nate Jung said.
