After departing Good Morning Britain, Piers Morgan has revealed that he is in TV show discussions with Simon Cowell after the Syco boss got him his big break in the US.

The 56-year-old made headlines when he abruptly left the morning programme in March after saying he didn’t believe what Meghan Markle said during her explosive TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The duchess said she was ignored when raising concerns about her mental health and that racist comments had been made before the birth of her son, Archie.

Piers isn’t worried about finding work though, as according to the media personality he has been inundated with offers.

One person he has been talking to recently is Simon, who he has known for years.

Simon gave Piers his big break in America when he hired him as a judge
on America’s Got Talent and Piers admitted he is considering working
in Los Angeles again after leaving Good Morning Britain.

He told The Sun that he’s ‘open to anything’.

‘I’m having some interesting discussions but the nature of television is
changing — how people watch and consume it. So I’ll definitely do
something on camera — it’s just how that manifests itself,’ he told the publication.

‘I saw Simon Cowell recently, and of course, he got me my first big break in America.

‘We walked for three hours. I got terrible blisters but I didn’t dare
tell him because it felt like he was going to keep going until one of us
surrendered. We talked about a few opportunities — I would like to work
with him again.’

Simon helped Piers become a household name in the States by giving him a judging role on America’s Got Talent in 2006.

When the British version of the talent show debuted in 2007, he hired Piers to work on it.

In 2011 Michael McIntyre took over as Piers’ replacement, while Alesha Dixon and David Walliams joined Simon and Amanda Holden to complete the lineup.

Piers has made thinly veiled barbs at Simon in the past, but the rivalry is all in good fun, and the two men have stayed friends.

The broadcaster also revealed he is considering a number of options for his own production company.

He explained: ‘My kids used to only see me on GMB on YouTube — some of
my stuff got 20, 30 million hits — and that’s how young people are
watching stuff nowadays. So there’s no reason I can’t do that myself.

‘I’ve already got a fledgling production company, and I’ve had a lot of
people who want to invest in me; give me a lot of money to do my thing.
So who knows? But it’s exciting.’

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories airs on Sunday night on ITV1 at 9pm.
