“Want to be Like Them”: Stefanos Tsitsipas Expresses Admiration For Nadal, Djokovic and Thiem

World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas is in some superb form on clay at the moment. The Greek player recently won the Monte Carlo Masters 2021 title and also ended up as the runner-up of the Barcelona Open 2021 after losing to Rafael Nadal in the finals. It is because of this that he is one of the favorites at the French Open 2021.

In a recent interview, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed the names of the players who he really likes to watch when they play. Interestingly, the list includes the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Dominic Thiem.

“It’s great for me to watch Nadal, Djokovic, and Thiem. I want to be like them,” said Tsitsipas in the interview. (Translated by Google Translate)

Tsitsipas also accepted that he not only enjoys when they play but he also wants to be like them. It is quite surprising that the Roger Federer fan also has quite some liking for these legends of the sport.

Even though he gives some tough competition to these big players, he hasn’t been able to beat them consistently. Recently, he lost to Djokovic in the quarters of the Italian Open 2021.

“Have simply never seen better in the history of tennis”- Stefanos Tsitsipas on Rafael Nadal

Intriguingly, Tsitsipas lauded Rafa to a great extent in the same interview. He highlighted that he hasn’t watched a better player than Nadal in the history of the sport. He also said that he respects the Spaniard a lot for exhibiting some really great fighting spirit on the court on a daily basis.

“I deeply respect what Rafa is capable of producing each time he faces me. We have simply never seen better in the history of tennis,” added the World No.5 player.

Tsitsipas made an incredible comeback against Rafael Nadal when he defeated him after losing the first two sets at the Australian Open 2021. However, the 20-time Grand Slam champion took his revenge by beating him in the finals of the Barcelona Open this year.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will begin his French Open 2021 campaign against Jeremy Chardy today. He managed to reach the semis of the major last year and fans have huge expectations from him this year as well. Will Tsitsipas be able to win his first Grand Slam title in Paris this time?
