Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow reportedly won’t return to ITV despite its popularity.
The entertainment show had a prime slot on Saturday night for its three-series run from 2020 until 2022, and while it was originally said to be rested, it is now ‘axed’.
In the episodes, Alan, 47, would bring back classic formats from previous ITV shows, before concluding with a new invention called the ‘epic endgame’. The revived formats included Play Your Cards Right, Bullseye and The Price Is Right.
While most episodes would see members of the public pitted against each other, there were also celebrity specials which included appearances from Harry Redknapp, Martin Kemp, and Ranvir Singh.
The family-friendly show’s first episode was watched by 4.3 million, but a smaller 2.3 million tuned in for the third outing’s debut. After the finale, bosses quietly shelved the Epic Gameshow.
A TV insider has now told The Sun that the host isn’t too disappointed it won’t be returning.

‘Alan won’t be taking this too hard as the three seasons Epic Gameshow ran for on ITV were well received and it’s not like he’s short of other projects,’ they claimed.
Alan has plenty of work on the small screen including Password – a gameshow all about word association that he is hosting with This Country star Daisy May Cooper – which will air later this year. Also on ITV, there will be a second series of Changing Ends, a semi-autobiographical series about Alan’s upbringing in Northampton.
Over on BBC, Alan has Interior Design Masters, which just concluded with an emotional final, Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job (following the success of Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job), and another game show – Picture Slam. He’s certainly booked and busy!

The news comes weeks after Zoe Ball and Alan’s musical talent show Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream was shelved.
The series, which aired in October last year, saw 14 hopefuls putting their singing, dancing and acting skills to the test, in order to win the ultimate prize of a role in the West End production of the hit Abba musical.
‘Mamma Mia I Have A Dream was commissioned to celebrate 25 years of the musical, so was only ever intended to be a one-off series,’ an ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk.
Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment.
Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow is available to watch on ITVX.
