Former WWE Superstar Lio Rush Makes His AEW Debut at Double or Nothing 2021

AEW Double or Nothing has been a fun PPV so far and the Casino Battle Royal had a perfect blend of fast-paced action and entertainment. What the unique match also saw was AEW debut of former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Lio Rush!

The ‘Man of the Hour’ drew the Joker card and entered at the final #21 spot in the Casino Battle Royal. Rush instantly showcased his agility and what he brings to the table against The Private Party. It all seemed like a highlight reel as Rush outsmarted and outpaced the Hardy Family Office.

Lio Rush put on a quick showcase in the Casino Battle Royal. Sadly, Matt Hardy eliminated him in less than five minutes while he was looking to eliminate the Private Party. Rush may not have won the match, but he definitely got a warm welcome from the crowd at Daily’s Place tonight.

There is no word on whether Lio Rush has signed with AEW or it is an one-off appearance. He had signed with MLW in November last year, and even won the MLW World Middleweight Championship. He lost the title earlier this month to Myron Reed on an episode of MLW Fusion Live.

Lio has made a significant name as one of the finest modern-day high flyers. Plus, he can also cut impressive promos. If you haven’t seen his promo work, then you must today! Never forget, Lio Rush once managed and was the mouthpiece for the ‘All-Mighty’ WWE Champion, Bobby Lashley.


The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion was released from WWE as part of the infamous string of releases on April 15th last year. Since then, Rush has appeared at a few independent wrestling shows, and also competed in the NJPW’s Super J-Cup Tournament. And we already know of his work in MLW.

Lio Rush could be a terrific addition for AEW, but looking at so many people on the roster already, we only hope he doesn’t get lost in the suffle. After all, he’s too good a pro wrestler for a promotion to miss out on.
