The true name of Codename RED has only just been announced and already there’s a flood of new leaks, including details of the season pass and DLC.

Almost no video announcement comes as a complete surprise nowadays, with leakers and dataminers managing to spoil most surprises before they have a chance to happen. But sometimes it’s not insiders ruining the fun, sometimes it’s the publisher themselves.

Ubisoft announced the name of what was previously known only as Assassin’s Creed: Codename RED on Monday evening, with a tease that more would be revealed, including a cinematic trailer, on Wednesday at 5pm.

The trailer hasn’t leaked but the release date of the game and details of its season pass have, and it’s all thanks to Ubisoft and an overly descriptive trailer description.

Although the trailer won’t be live until Wednesday there is timer for it already and originally it revealed that the release date was… November 15. Which is not something that was supposed to be known already.

Ubisoft removed the detail when they realised but by that time it was too late. The date is pretty much what would be expected, as Ubisoft had already said it’ll be out before April and November is often when they release new Assassin’s Creed games.

As if that wasn’t enough, there have also been several unofficial leaks since the name reveal, with multiple sources claiming the game is next gen only and will not appear on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 – which isn’t much of a surprise.

Details of the game’s Ultimate Edition and DLC have also appeared online, from Rainbow Six Siege dataminer Frax. It’s not clear exactly what he datamined, but it’s likely to have been the Ubisoft store.

He claims that there will be a $40 (£32) season pass and that it will include an additional questline called Origami Killer, with another one called Thrown to the Dogs for everyone that pre-orders.

The pass seems to cover two separate expansions, costing $25 (£20) when bought separately, but that’s no indication of when they might be released.

The only detail on the Ultimate Edition is that it gives you 5 free skill points from the off – so you can avoid all that tiresome business of having to play the game yourself.

Similarly, you can buy in-game currency separately, for increasingly large sums, although it’s not clear what exactly it’s used to buy, unless the game perhaps has a multiplayer mode.
