Dead By Daylight has become a juggernaut franchise over the last several years, with various spin-offs in the works to capitalise on its popularity.
During a livestream to mark the game’s eighth anniversary, developer Behaviour Interactive shared details on its upcoming Dungeons & Dragons DLC, along with various updates on other brand new games in development – including the surprise shadow drop of a new roguelite.
As shown in the trailer, What The Fog is a two-player co-op roguelite which sees Dead By Daylight survivors Dwight and Claudette pulled away from the horrors of serial killers and dumped in a cartoonish board game.
Like the main game, you have to earn blood points and repair generators to unlock exit doors – but this time you’re doing it through procedurally generated levels where you shoot your way through hordes of monsters. If your co-op partner dies, they can cast support spells to assist in the fight until they are revived.
This family-friendly take on the horror universe is available now on Steam, and developer Behaviour Interactive is giving away the first two million copies for free. You can secure a copy by signing in to your Behaviour Account and following the steps on the official website. When these run out, What The Fog can be bought for $4.99 (£3.99).
Elsewhere in the livestream, a new gameplay trailer was shown for The Casting Of Frank Stone – a narrative-driven spin-off from Until Dawn and The Quarry creators Supermassive Games. It looks highly reminiscent of the studio’s previous works, as a group of teens unravel the mystery of a sadistic serial killer in the small town of Cedar Hills, Oregon.
Judging by the trailer, the spin-off includes cosmic elements too – with shots of portals and other seemingly alien phenomena. Frank Stone is a new character to the Dead By Daylight universe, but this looks set to tee him up as a DLC character for the future.
Speaking to press, Supermassive Games described the game as being roughly five to seven hours in length – so it sounds closer in scope to an entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, rather than Until Dawn.
There’s no specific release date yet, but The Casting Of Frank Stone is set to come out at some point this year on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
The other spin-off in the works is a 1-4 player PvE action-horror shooter developed by Behaviour Interactive subsidiary Midwinter. The title was announced last year but it is now codenamed Project T, and players can sign up to the Insider Program for the chance to participate in playtests down the line.
There’s little information about the shooter, but a synopsis describes players making use of trucks, talismans, and weapons as you battle waves of enemies in a mysterious realm.

It remains to be seen whether any of these spin-offs will be successful enough to get new players invested in Dead By Daylight, especially as they don’t feature any licensed crossovers, but it’s reflective of how popular the IP has become that these even exist.
Dead By Daylight has, however, dabbled in spin-offs before, between a truncated mobile version of the main game and a visual novel dating sim.
