Reese Witherspoon has announced that she will be returning to her Legally Blonde roots with a prequel series focusing on Elle Woods – and fans are desperate for her daughter to sign up.
The 48-year-old stole our hearts with her portrayal of the lovable law student in 2001, and confirmed plans for a third outing in 2018.
While we’re still waiting for the untitled flick, it was revealed earlier today that a TV show focusing on the character’s high school years has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video.
Elle will follow the titular character as she battles through high school, with viewers learning about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film’.
Although a cast has yet to be confirmed, many have already got their dream star in mind – and Reese won’t even have to go far to get them on the phone…
In fact, many have called out for her mini-me daughter, Ava Phillippe – who she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe – to bag the part as young Elle, and she would actually be perfect.

Taking to Twitter, Hafeesco couldn’t help but quote the original flick, vowing: “Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed.” This is a perfect opportunity to cast her daughter in the role.’
Lils agreed: ‘If her daughter doesn’t play her, they’re missing a really good opportunity.’
Streamqueen486 penned: ‘Omg can they cast Reese daughter as the lead pls [sic].’
As Captnmarvl suggested: ‘They should have made this a few years ago and had her daughter play Elle bc they’re literally the same person [sic].’

Reese dusted off her trusty bend and snap to share the news of the spin-off at Amazon’s upfront this morning in New York, and will be serving as an executive producer for the upcoming series.
She said in a statement: ‘I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series!
‘Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!
‘I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!’

The Big Little Lies actress shares a very close bond with Ava, and is frequently joined by her eldest child on the red carpet.
The 24-year-old has been in the public eye for most of her life, and has fronted several modeling campaigns, working with brands including Ivy Park, Rodarte and Pat McGrath Labs.
While she hasn’t discussed whether she would want to follow her famous parents into Hollywood, Ava previously channeled her inner Elle Woods for a photoshoot with Aerie, posing beside a pool in a stunning swimsuit.

‘My parents have always encouraged me to choose the path that’s right for me and guide me along the way to make better choices than I might make,’ Ava previously explained on Daily Pop in 2021.
‘I’m so grateful for that. That is such a privilege to have parents that support you in that way and want you to be who you truly are meant to be.’
Elle will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video at a later date.
