Anne Robinson, best known as the former stern no-nonsense presenter on The Weakest Link, has ruffled feathers with her plans for her wealth.

Anne, 79, revealed that she has plans to avoid inheritance tax and ensure her family have access to her entire wealth when she dies.

The star revealed her tax avoidance plans – not to be confused with tax evasion which is illegal – and has already gifted her family members most of her £50,000,000 wealth so they don’t have to pay tax on their inheritance when she passes.

‘I’ve given it all away. I don’t want the taxman to have it. I’ve spread it about quite a lot, to the children. They may as well enjoy it now,’ she told Saga magazine.

She added that she had ‘genuinely no idea’ she had amassed a £50 million wealth but said she ‘can’t think there’s anything I really want except my good health and the family happiness.’

These comments have divided fans with many angered by the plans made public by the multi-millionaire.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, @LaindonFEMINIST said: ‘Thing is it’s not “given to the tax man” it’s given to the country you’ve lived in and benefitted from all your life.’

@azb2019 added: ‘She means “schools and hospitals”. She doesn’t want schools and hospitals to get funded by the wealth of millionaires.’

‘She knows she will never use or need it all, but she’s desperate to stop a percentage of her excess wealth being used to fund health, education, defence and all the other services that make our society work. Selfish and pathetic,’ said @PeterTAGray.

Others were more sympathetic and felt that the presenter had every right to ensure her life’s income goes directly to her children.

@Saskiaaa said on X: ‘Smart. Don’t blame her!’ Another, @JN75313083 added: ‘Good on her!’

‘Absolutely the right thing to do. Period,’ said @Bilious46955678.

Anne’s fortune will be left to her only daughter, Emma Wilson, 43, and her two grandchildren, Hudson, 14, and Parker, 13.

The former TV star is not married but is in a relationship with Andrew Parker-Bowles, the ex-husband of Queen Camilla.

Anne spoke briefly about her relationship with the Queen’s ex-husband in the interview. When asked if the rumours they were dating were true she replied: ‘Yes. Full Stop. Mind your own business.’

She also spoke about returning to dating 17 years after her divorce.

‘I’d been out of the game for so long,’ she said. ‘And also I don’t drink. If you don’t drink you’re not as reckless, are you?’

‘I’d say that like everything else I’ve done, it’s always worth the risk. I’m a great believer in surprising yourself by taking risks. Personally and professionally.’

‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If the worst that can happen is you get some egg on your face, that’s not terrible is it?’
