A mysterious bug is removing games in the EA app and although there is a simple fix, some people still haven’t gotten their games back.
A few months ago there was a bug that wiped digital games from PlayStation owners’ libraries, and fans were then unable to re-download them, causing outrage on social media.
Now a similar problem has occurred with the EA app, as Reddit and the EA community forum is filling up with complaints from players who are losing access to many of their games.
EA believes that the issue will be fixed if you simply log out and back in again, but there are multiple reports coming in, saying that it doesn’t work.
Complaints flared up on May 22 from players who were getting an error message in the EA app, that states: ‘Games have been removed from your library. View details for more information.’
Once they click ‘View Details’, another message elaborates: ‘This content has been removed for an unlisted reason. Check out our top help topics for more information.’
In a tweet EA has said that the issue can be fixed by logging out and in again, and if that doesn’t work an EA community manager suggests you clear your EA app cache by performing an App Recovery.
Players are still reporting that they have no access to some of the games that were accidentally removed, with Alex Gurunlian replying to EA’s tweet with a video of their missing games, saying:
‘So, this issue isn’t fixed. As most of the DLC [downloadable content] has been removed.’
‘It has not fixed for me even after performing a reset on the app. Missing games I paid for,’ Joey Ange says.

This has caused lots of confusion, with theories that it’s a bug in the EA servers, that it’s only affecting downloadable content, or that the issue occurs when you link your Xbox or PlayStation account to the EA app.
EA hasn’t yet responded to anyone who still haven’t gotten their games back, or explained why it happened in the first place.
For now, it’s another unfortunate example of the risks of owning digital games, where you don’t have full ownership over the games you’ve paid for.
