Popular This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh has been forced to shut down claims that he’s no longer able to practise medicine.

Dr Ranj, 44, is well known for his appearances on a range of British TV shows, having dished out health advice on Morning Live, Lorraine, and many more. He’s also appeared on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

As well, Dr Ranj has been outspoken about his time on telly, including the so-called ‘toxicity’ at This Morning.

Alas, being in the public eye means the star is often subject to rumours about himself, the latest being that he had lost his licence.

Setting the record straight, Dr Ranj took to X with a statement On Thursday (May 23).

‘Please ignore the people on social media claiming I’ve “lost my medical licence”,’ he began.

‘Surprise surprise, this is completely untrue.’

Dr Ranj explained: ‘I intentionally put my Licence To Practise on hold earlier this year because I’m taking a bit of time off clinical work to pursue other projects (as you might have seen!).

‘It just takes a couple of months for the process to complete.’

He concluded by stating: ‘It’s perfectly normal for doctors to do this, and there is no other reason involved.

‘And I’m still very much a GMC-registered doctor.’

Actress Chizzy Akudolu was among those supporting Dr Ranj following his post, writing: ‘Take all the time you need Ranj. Those who know you, love you’.

A spokesperson for Dr Ranj reiterated what he said, stating that he ‘has categorically not lost his medical licence.’

They added that ‘any doctor is entitled’ to pursue other endeavours during time off.

As for what his extra projects are, Dr Ranj has proven himself to be quite the Jack of all trades.

Away from his TV work, he recently joined Scott Mills on BBC Radio Two to chat about his love for music and why it’s important.

‘When you listen to music, it stimulates your vagus nerve, which is one of the biggest nerves in the body that helps calm your sympathetic nervous systems down,’ he explained.

‘So it helps actively calm you.’

He’s also due to make his stage debut later this year.

He’ll play the part of Lance in the UK and Ireland tour of & Juliet, admitting that, while it’s a massively different project for him, he’s excited to get stuck in.

‘I know it’s a bit of a change from my usual work, but not many people will know how hard I’ve been working behind the scenes to make this happen,’ Dr Ranj told Pink News.

‘It’s an absolute dream come true.’
