Coulthard Claims ‘Real Homeboy’ Max Verstappen Has the Title Advantage Over Hamilton

Max Verstappen has enjoyed an astonishing start to his 2021 F1 campaign, having secured 2 wins out of 5 races and also claiming the championship lead for the first time in his F1 career.

Of course, the Dutchman owns a car that is incredibly competitive and a team whose target has constantly rested on bagging the title, but that’s not it.

Former F1 driver, David Coulthard, reckoned that there is another special aspect that is guiding Verstappen to glory and potentially handing him an upper hand over Lewis Hamilton in the battle for the championship.

What did Coulthard say?

Speaking to RacingNews365, DC opened up that Verstappen always travels back to his home following each race weekend, which helps the Dutchman to relax and embrace the feel of home, before moving on to the subsequent Grand Prix.

Max is a real homeboy. He goes back to Monaco and really wants to be home. That is an important element that allows him to recharge himself,” Coulthard said.

Things are consolidating pretty well for the Dutchman at the moment. With Honda’s brilliant farewell power unit for Red Bull and a drastic fall in performance at Mercedes, Verstappen’s chances of securing a title this season is shining bright.

The fact that even the ever-dominant Hamilton is struggling against the Red Bull driver says it all. But, of course, the Briton will not go down without a fight, with a record-breaking 8th title within his reach. Hence, an eye-catching rivalry is certainly on-cards this season.

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t have the inner peace unlike Max Verstappen

Coulthard pointed out that, unlike Verstappen, Hamilton doesn’t have a place to call his home, and rather travels around Los Angeles before prepping up for the subsequent race weekend.

With Lewis, you never know where he is between races,” he said. “He in Los Angeles or somewhere else? That works for him. But he doesn’t have the inner peace to call anything his home. With Max, this will definitely add several years to his career.

Overall, Hamilton has been a part of the F1 community for over a decade now and is still looking in top form. Hence, with Coulthard claiming Verstappen could do a longer F1 stint compared to the Briton, is the Red Bull driver capable enough to create a new title record, beating Hamilton and racing legend, Michael Schumacher?
