John Barrowman has been supported by stars including Ashley Banjo and Keith Lemon as he returned to social media following allegations about his behaviour on the set of Torchwood.

The Captain Jack Harkness actor returned to Twitter and Instagram, thanking fans for support amid the reports.

Underneath the post, Celebrity Juice host Keith commented: ‘Big salute John! Sending you magical powers,’ while Ashley commented a fist bump and heart emoji.

Louie Spence said: ‘❤️ There is no businesslike show business  😉,’ while Coronation Street actress Lisa George added: ‘Sending you all my love and kisses 💋💋💋.’

In a short video, Barrowman, 54, said: ‘I just want to say thank you very much to all of my fan family and to everybody who has reached out with countless messages of support over the last few weeks.

‘It has meant such a great deal to me and has really touched me to know that people are supporting me and standing by me and sending their love, appreciation and kind words.

‘Hopefully, we will all be together sometime soon and I look forward to it. Much love and thank you.’

It came after two former runners came forward with allegations that he would ‘get his genitals out on a regular basis’.

Barrowman recently told The Guardian that his behaviour was ‘only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage’.

‘With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously,’ he added.

‘Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.’

However, he has recently been axed from BBC productions, including the theatre show Doctor Who: Time Fracture and Torchwood audio drama, Absent Friends.
