The not-E3 season will be back (Summer Game Fest)

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest will be back in 2025, but will it have more big name reveals than this year?

Summer Game Fest may have felt quieter this year overall but there was still plenty of titles shown, between Star Wars Outlaws and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Unsurprisingly, shortly after the main showcases from Xbox and Ubisoft earlier this week, the event’s host Geoff Keighley confirmed Summer Game Fest will return in June 2025.

As outlined in a post on Twitter, next year’s event will similarly feature a livestreamed showcase, which fans will be able to attend in Los Angeles. This will be followed by the preview event Play Days for media and influencers.

‘Together with the industry, we will continue to build what’s next,’ Keighley wrote.

While Summer Game Fest does hold its own showcase hosted by Keighley, it’s also an umbrella for other presentations – with this year’s housing Xbox, Ubisoft, Day Of The Devs, Devolver Direct, Wholesome Direct, the PC Gaming Show, and others.

The main omission from this year’s slate was Nintendo, which is set to release its own Direct presentation at some point this month.

If this year’s main Summer Game Fest show was generally low-key, next year’s could be a different story – with Microsoft teasing its next-gen plans, big names like GTA 6 expected to release, and ‘major’ first-party games from Sony hopefully being back on the agenda.

For now, outside of Gamescom 2024 in August, the next major known event is The Game Awards which is set to take place on December 12.
