One of the lead stars of Harry Potter has teased a possible return in the TV reboot, saying that he would ‘certainly’ consider it.

From 2001 until 2011, cinemagoers were transported to a magical land in the Harry Potter movie franchise, following boy wizard Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his best friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) as they fought the forces of evil lead by Lord Voldermort (Ralph Fiennes).

One of the other key characters in the story was Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis), who went from being a bag of nerves as a young child to one of the most heroic people of the wizarding world.

Following the news that the story – based on the books by JK Rowling – is being rebooted in an upcoming HBO Max TV series, Potterheads across the globe are undoubtedly wondering if any of the original stars will return to either reprise their roles or take on new ones.

In a new interview, Matthew has addressed the possibility, admitting that he could be open to the idea.

‘It’s not something I’m looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at,’ the 34-year-old told People.

The actor explained to the publication that he was ‘not in any rush to go back to the world’ of Harry Potter.

However, he could be swayed, as he said: ‘I’d be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult – a whole different vibe.

‘That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it.’

So while it might not officially be on the cards, who knows – perhaps an adult Neville could make an appearance in future?

During a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, Matthew opened up about his time on Harry Potter, revealing which of Neville’s iconic lines he actually personally hated.

“Why is it always me?” was always a popular one with Neville, because I guess that sums up his character a little bit,’ he began, referencing his line in the second film, The Chamber of Secrets.

He continued: ‘Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of love for the, “Oh my god, I’ve killed Harry Potter!” line, which I detest.

‘I really hate that line. I don’t hate it because of its writing. I mean, it’s funny. I thought my delivery was… I just didn’t commit to it.’

The ‘I’ve killed Harry Potter’ line came from The Goblet of Fire, when Neville momentarily believes he could be the reason for Harry’s downfall during a challenge of the Triwizard Tournament.

While Matthew might not like the line, plenty of fans still utterly adore it.

The Harry Potter TV reboot series will air on HBO Max.
