Susanna Reid has taken aim at Nigel Farage after he was awarded a gong for TV presenting over her.

Each year the Television and Radio Industries Club hosts an annual awards ceremony honouring achievement in television and radio.

This year, the nominees for best presenter were Good Morning Britain’s Susanna, alongside BBC Radio 5’s Matt Chorley and Eamonn Holmes and Farage, who each front programmes on GB News.

The awards were handed out on Tuesday, with Farage, 60, taking out the win for the presenting category.

However soon after Susanna, 53, seemingly questioned the decision, re-posting a tweet about his win with the caption: ‘Congratulations go to ….. @Nigel_Farage.’

Her post sparked some interest among followers, with one declaring they ‘love a bit of drama’.

After being announced as the recipient, Farage faced boos whilst collecting the award at the ceremony in London today.

Whilst walking on stage he was jeered by the celebrity crowd.

Addressing the frosty reception, the politician said: ‘It’s a bit like a wrestling event isn’t it!’

He then told the crowd that GB News’ success at the awards signalled it was ‘here to stay as a mainstream broadcaster’.

He continued, as reported by The Mirror: ‘Those that boo clearly don’t get what a competition is. A massive thank you to our viewers but I also want to say a big shoutout as I did some work for another TV company.

Then referencing Susanna’s employer ITV, he added: ‘I did spend some time in the I’m A Celebrity jungle and Fred [Sirieix] I’ve seen up here. He and I would never agree but we did work well together in the camp. I’m A Celebrity, a great show. Sadly, my TV career has been somewhat curtailed because I have another mission coming up on the 4th July.’

Farage is currently standing for the political party Reform UK in the upcoming General Election, which is his eighth bid to become a British MP.

The divisive politician’s inclusion on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! last year sparked massive backlash, especially after he was reported to have been paid £1.5 million by ITV to take part.

After joining GB News in 2021, Farage won the Tric award for best news presenter last year, where he was also booed.

However, at the time he told crowd to ‘keep the abuse coming’ while being heckled.

Last week he also faced a grilling by Susanna and her GMB co-host Ed Balls, who questioned Farage about his party’s tax plans.

After he unveiled Reform’s ‘contract’ to voters, leading economists were quick to debunk the figures, warning the right-wing party’s plans would spell disaster for public services.

Facing several rebuffs from Balls on the matter, Farage at one point moaned ‘this is so typical’, however viewers praised the tough questions, with one going so far to say his ‘embarrassing’ responses made for a ‘train-crash interview’.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
