Rylan Clark has opened up more about the ‘bizarre’ health implications after his divorce from Dan Neal, three years on.
The TV presenter parted ways with ex-husband Dan after six years of marriage after Rylan, 35, confessed to infidelity.
The breakup had a huge impact on the beloved TV star who spoke about how his body ‘shut down’ as he was forced to step away from the spotlight for four months.
In a recent interview with Rob Rinder, the This Morning presenter moved the host to tears after admitting he ‘tried to end it, tried to finish myself’ as he got candid about his mental health.
Now he is sharing more about the physical health effects during this difficult period in his life.
The media personality, who moved back in with his mother while he recovered, said: ‘I lost my speech. I lost my vision for a little bit like it was all really just… it was like having a really bad stroke.

‘It was just so bizarre. And yeah, it took me months to go back to work.’
The star explained on Jamie Laing’s podcast Great Company just how out of the ordinary this was for him since he ‘rarely would have like, four hours off, let alone f***king four months.’
He continued: ‘I needed to do it. And I need to start again. And I needed to reset myself.
‘But the only regret I’ve got from that is that I wish I’d never stopped and I’ve just dealt with it in a different way. But I didn’t. And then it was out of my control.
‘I see it as like a self-destruct button, something in my mind was going to f*** up your seemingly perfect life.’
After spending months questioning why he had blown up his life, he started to come to an ‘understanding’ of his actions.

‘It was just realisation just understanding things, learning new things and just realising that I’m not f**king mad, basically,’ he added.
He now believes that you ‘need to learn to be on your own before you’re fully happy with someone else.’ And he shared that self-care is ‘important’.
‘It’s not just the moisturiser and the serum you use, you’ve got to look after the inside like diet and all that shit, which I never do, because I’m terrible. But mainly up here, just need to look after yourself,’ he concluded.
Last year, the Big Brother icon admitted that he was ‘almost glad it killed’ him.

‘I won’t go into too much detail but it was extremely traumatic and I’m not just being dramatic, it was very much trauma.’
He added that he only weighed nine stone (57 kilograms) at the time of the break-up.
In 2022, the star spoke more about his failing health saying that his speech was slurred and twice he ‘ended up at the back of an ambulance because [his] heart had failed.’
At the time, he explained: ‘Your BPM [heartbeats per minute] should be 60 to 120 and mine was 248 and I could feel it and I knew it wasn’t right and it turns out my heart had to be restarted.
‘I just remember laying in resus… and having all these pads on with all these wires and not understanding what it was.’
