Baywatch star Nicole Eggert has broken down in tears sharing a health update after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The actress, 52, is best known for playing Summer Quinn on the action-drama TV series, which ran between 1989 and 2000.

Earlier this year Nicole revealed she had been diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December.

It came after she initially assumed her symptoms – gaining 11kg in three months and suffering ‘terrible pain’ in her breast – were menopause.

The actress has now shared an update,

Posting a video in her living room, Nicole explained how she’d just left a meeting with her surgeons.

‘Hi. I just left meeting my surgeons and the words they used were I “had a full, complete response [to her chemo]”,’ she explained.

Bursting into tears of joy, she continued: ‘What does that mean? My body fully responded to the chemo.

‘There’s no detectable cancer in that area and I have the green light to go ahead and schedule surgery.’

Nicole confirmed that that the upcoming surgery she’ll be undergoing is a mastectomy and breast reconstruction, something she said ‘will be a whole journey of its own.’

Referring to her chemotherapy treatments, she then exclaimed: ‘It worked. It worked. It worked!’

After throwing her hands in the air in excitement, Nicole addressed those people who had been negative, saying: ‘It worked. It worked and now it’s taking care of this problem.’

She concluded: ‘What a way to end the week. It’s my daughter’s birthday and I’m going to celebrate the heck out of her because she deserves it and been such a trooper.’

Soon after the actress shared another post celebrating her daughter’s birthday and said she was ‘not taking a second for granted’.

She was flooded with messages of support from friends and fans alike, with The Wonder Years actor Jason Hervey writing: ‘Your tears have brought tears of my own. We’ve been friends for what? Almost 40 years? I wish I was there to give you a HUGE hug…we’re here for you and your family Nicole. We’re all standing with YOU!’

‘Oh, Nicole. I’m so happy! I love you,’ Alyssa Milano commented.

‘Love you Nic! You got this,’ Seth Green added.

Nicole, who also appeared in Charles in Charge and Boy Meets World, went to her GP after suffering ‘terrible pain’ in her left breast and then received her stage 2 diagnosis before going public with the news.

Speaking to People Magazine about her health, the star said of the lump: ‘It really was throbbing and hurting.

‘I immediately went to my general practitioner and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at. But the problem was I just couldn’t get an appointment. Everything was booked. So I had to wait until the end of November to get it done.

‘This journey’s been rough for me. This hasn’t been a breezy sale through life.’

The actress added that she ‘had panics’ thinking about the fear of the lump growing inside her.

Baywatch is streaming on ITVX.
