WWE superstar Becky Lynch has sparked fears she has retired from wrestling.

The 37-year-old former seven-time world champion officially left the company after 11 years on June 1 when her contract expired following a loss to Liv Morgan on Monday Night Raw days earlier.

It’s been reported that The Man was ready to take an extended break from professional wrestling to focus on her family, including husband Seth Rollins and their daughter Roux.

Now, Becky appears to have hinted at retirement in an emotional Instagram post after her Biography: WWE Legends documentary aired on A&E in the US.

Alongside a series of snaps from her illustrious career, Big Time Becks wrote: ‘Being the Man for all of you was an honor, being the mom for her is a privilege.’

She added that it has ‘been a helluva career’, and thanks fans for watching the programme about her life and journey in the wrestling world.

Fans are distraught and have been sent into a panic by her commenting on her career, and saying it ‘was’ an honour, rather than using the present tense.

‘WAS? Past tense? Becky is retired?’ tweeted @JoeCool212, while fellow X user @caoilin_cav added: ‘please tell me becky lynch isn’t retiring i’ll cry (sic)’

‘NOT BECKY RETIRING PLEASE NO,’ bemoaned @blessrhea_, as @TheMorrigan95 wrote: ‘I really hope that wasn’t Becky Lynch retiring… I can’t take anymore 😢’

And after an emotional SummerSlam which saw Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor betray Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest respectively, @Lissaaarchive said: ‘Dom is a snake, I had to watch Rhea cry, Damien lost his title, Bayley lost her title. Now Becky retired?! I’m done with wrestling ✌🏽’

However, others aren’t quite so sure, with plenty of fans insisting the post was just a heartfelt comment after her documentary.

‘No idea how people are getting “retirement” vibes from Becky’s IG post lmao,’ laughed @MaidenEngland96, while other people pointed out her farewell would likely be a much bigger deal.

‘I feel like if Becky Lynch was retiring, she’d show up on RAW to announce it,’ pointed out @ReggieKSanshine.

After her final match ended in late May, Becky sat in the ring and struggled to hold back tears as fans chanted ‘Thank you Becky’.

Following her match on Raw, she shared a photo of herself from behind walking out of the arena, and simply captioned the snap: ‘To be continued.’

The star – who, along with Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, became the first women to main event WrestleMania in 2019 – has hinted she wouldn’t want to wrestle anywhere else.

She first started wrestling in Ireland in 2002, and 11 years later finally made her way to WWE, where she started on the NXT brand and became one of the Four Horsewomen alongside Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Bayley.

She helped lead the ‘Women’s Revolution’ upon her Raw debut in 2015, and went onto make history with championship reigns and blockbuster matches.
