Krishnan Guru-Murthy squares up to Elon Musk after his ‘dangerous’ comments on UK riots-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Krishnan Guru-Murthy has weighed into Elon Musk’s clash with Sir Keir Starmer over the ongoing far-right riots, squaring up to the Tesla CEO over his ‘dangerous’ comments.

The spat between the Prime Minister and businessman has escalated in recent hours, with the X owner calling him ‘two-tier Keir’ in a series of tweets, and reposting images and videos related to the ongoing attacks across the nation.

In the past few days, far-right violence across the UK including in Rotheram, Middlseborough, Bristol and Bolton has escalated.

Extremists have smashed windows, shops, cars and lit bins on fire, with social media clips showing ‘race checkpoints’ set up in Middlesbrough, a Liverpool library which hosts a food bank set on fire, and petrol bombs thrown at a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Tamworth.

Musk has taken to X and tagged Sir Keir in several tweets, writing: ‘Why aren’t all communities protected in Britain?’ and seemingly arguing against a focus on protecting vulnerable communities including Muslim people against the far-right attackers.

A mosque in Southport and a Citizens Advice office and police station in Sunderland are among buildings that have been damaged during days of riots between anti-immigration demonstrators attacking police and counter-protesters.

Musk, 53, also reposted an unverified video accusing several people of being ‘armed Muslim patrol’ who have ‘attacked journalists’.

He has since been accused of ‘race baiting’, with newsreader Krishnan calling him out and commenting: ‘Do you want to do an interview about this?

‘You are causing a lot of waves here in Britain at a very dangerous time.

‘Anytime, anywhere. On @Channel4News and @X live.’

X user @SixSigmaCapital replied: ‘Elon isn’t interested in discussion or the truth He is interested in race baiting, escalating tensions and encouraging anarchy.’

@subversivepsych said: ‘Bravo Krishnan. Elon is pouring petrol on the flames of division. With that immense IQ…surely @elonmusk should know better. Perhaps he can explain to the rest of us why he would make such inflammatory comments.’

The BBC’s disinformation and social media correspondent Marianna Spring also wrote: ‘I investigate social media at the BBC. I’ve repeatedly asked you for an interview. You accuse the media of not holding power to account.

‘I want to ask you questions about your site and its role fanning the flames of UK riots. Will you speak to me? @elonmusk.’

The Prime Minister has meanwhile rejected claims of ‘two-tier policing’ in Britain, after Nigel Farage suggested riots over the last week have been dealt with more harshly than other recent unrest and protests.

Downing Street also criticised Musk for tweeting that ‘civil war is inevitable’ in the UK, with Sir Keir’s official spokesman saying that there was ‘no justification for comments like that’.

‘We’re talking about a minority of thugs who don’t speak for Britain,’ he said.

More than 400 people have been arrested in the last week after violence by groups with links to the far-right, with Sir Keir to chair another Cobra meeting tonight as police brace for an eighth night of violence.
