A trailer has finally been released for the Zombies mode in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6, which takes place on a remote military base.
Ever since it debuted in 2008’s Call Of Duty: World At War, Zombies has become a recurring pillar of the Call Of Duty experience.
While it hasn’t appeared in every game since then, the co-op zombie mode has become synonymous with developer Treyarch’s Call Of Duty titles, after the studio popularised the mode in 2010’s Call Of Duty: Black Ops and its sequels.
As expected, Zombies will return in Treyarch’s upcoming game Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6, with a new trailer providing a first glimpse at the next chapter.
A cinematic trailer reveals the Black Ops 6 version of Zombies will take place on Terminus, a mysterious military base located in the Philippine Sea.
While many simply play Zombies for the co-op chaos, the mode has featured multiple story arcs over the years. This latest entry continues the Dark Aether storyline, as incarcerated former Requiem staff – Grigori Weaver, Mackenzie ‘Mac’ Carver, Elizabeth Grey, Oskar Strauss, and Stoney Maddox, aka Raptor One – attempt to break out of Terminus with their liberators Dr William Peck and Maya Aguinaldo.
As teased in a blog post, it sounds like Terminus might not be the only location overrun with the undead, as according to Treyarch: ‘On the other side of the globe, the West Virginian town of Liberty Falls is also facing its own zombie onslaught.’
The trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, but Activision will release more details on Thursday, August 8 at 4pm BST. This will include ‘an in-depth gameplay overview, information about your pre-match preparation options, full details on round-based Zombies gameplay, and a bestiary of the undead’.
While Call Of Duty has largely repeated the same formula over the past decade, this year’s entry appears to be making some notable adjustments – with the key addition being a new ‘omnimovement’ system which allows players to slide and sprint in any direction.
This year’s Call Of Duty is also a big one for Microsoft, as it launches on Game Pass day one for the first time (as long as you’re not on the reworked basic tier).
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on October 25.
