Days before they were due to take to the stage, Lauryn Hill and The Fugees have scrapped their celebratory tour.

The Miseducation Anniversary Tour 2024 was due to kick off in Tampa, Florida on August 9 before making its way across the US and over to Europe later this year.

No announcement has been made by Lauryn, 49, or the 90s group — which consists of Lauryn, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel — about the cancellations.

However, ticketholders reportedly received a message from organisers Live Nation which said they would be refunded for the event.

‘Your event has been cancelled. A refund will be on its way to your account soon,’ the email said, according to Variety.

No further explanation or reason for the cancellation was given.

It’s unclear if the entire tour will be cancelled, with the European leg due to kick off on October 12 in Manchester.

Dates are set for a London gig on October 14, with Paris four days later before the tour wraps in Amsterdam on October 20.

The Fugees rose to fame in the 90s with the hit album The Score, which landed several Grammy awards and numerous accolades.

It was the second-ever rap album to receive a nomination for Album of the Year during the 1997 Grammys, and the last album before the trio split.

Hits like Killing Me Softly With His Song, Ready or Not, and Fu-Gee-La climbed the charts and made the group a household name.

Two years later Lauryn returned to the Grammys and became the first person to win Album of the Year with a rap album — The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The tour is for the 25th anniversary of Lauryn’s number-one album, with support from YG Marley (Lauryn’s son).

It was previously postponed in November after Lauryn revealed that she was struggling with vocal issues.

‘As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time,’ she shared on Instagram.

‘In order to prevent any long-term negative effect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery.’

Fans appear to have taken the cancellation with a hint of amusement, joking that this is a common occurrence for the singer who is notoriously late for her gigs.

‘The only way I’d go to a Lauryn Hill concert is if I’m in the car with her on the way TO the concert 💀,’ joked Tres on X.

Kenni said: ‘This is ridiculous but unfortunately not surprised, I’m just glad I didn’t get tickets because even though I’d love to see Lauryn Hill in person I also know that the likelihood of her turning up is minimal💀.’

‘I want somebody to believe in me the way Lauryn Hill ticket holders believe they’ll get to see her perform,’ added Kira Alex.

‘My wife was talking about getting tickets to this and I said “How many times are you going to allow yourself to be victimized by Ms Lauryn Hill?”‘ wrote Paul Beer.

Carl Butler said: ‘I swear to God, Lauryn Hill and gig drama is like a universal constant alongside gravity.’

At a previous gig in November, Lauryn poked fun at her lateness and said: ‘Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this stage every night!’
