“It’s…..Trash”- CM Punk Buries WWE After The Releases of Major Superstars

The releases of top WWE superstars like Braun Strowman, Aleister Black and Lana have shocked the world. While some fans are still reeling from the news, others have fired back at WWE. One of these people is former WWE superstar CM Punk, a man who’s list of grievances against the WWE has no end.

Chief Editor of Bloody Disgusting John Squires criticized WWE for the recent releases. He wrote, “One thing that has consistently bummed me out about WWE in recent years is that there’s been a *wealth* of incredible talent in that company, but they rarely seem to really know what to do with any of it. This latest wave of releases is a truly stunning reflection of that issue.”

In response to this, CM Punk absolutely buried his former workplace, calling it ‘trash’. “It’s like a movie with a blockbuster budget and cast, but if it’s written by creatively bankrupt nincompoops specifically for an audience of one, in a language nobody understands anymore, it’s….. trash. But people watch it because they like movies.”

Punk’s not-so-subtle analysis is apt, especially since the product quality hasn’t increased to cater to the fans. His issues with the creative team began all the way in 2011 when he cut the infamous pipe-bomb promo, and reveals them as the true cause of wrestlers being released.

Punk is one of the few former wrestlers who found success after leaving wrestling. He went to the UFC, from which he joined the analyst’s desk for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. We might not see Punk in a wrestling ring again, but we can see on the big screen.

Will we see the released superstars back in WWE?

There are dozens of superstars WWE rehired after releasing them from their contracts. From former World Champions like Drew McIntyre and Daniel Bryan to legends like Ultimate Warrior and Eddie Guerrero, Vince McMahon has offered wrestlers a second chance. More often that not, they’ve proved their worth to the company.

In the case of Braun Strowman, he’s one superstar that will remain on WWE’s radar for a long time. The Monster Among Men is a former World Champion and a guy WWE sought as their future. Many companies will swoop down to pick up Adam Scherr, but his WWE return is sort of inevitable.

As for Aleister Black, it is clear a wrestler of his calibre will benefit from NJPW, AEW or IMPACT. By reverting to Tommy End, it’s clear he wants to return to his roots, maybe even compete in Europe again. Lana is most likely joining her husband in AEW, along with the likes of Ruby Riott, Santana Garrett and Buddy Murphy.
