Rapper Nelly ‘arrested for drugs possession and driving without insurance’-Kitty Chrisp-Entertainment – Metro

Nelly, famed for hits including Hot in Here and Ride Wit Me, was arrested in the St Louis area for alleged possession of ecstasy, it has been reported.

49-year-old Nelly – real name Cornell Haynes Jr – is said to have since been released.

According to Fox 2 Now, the Over and Over hitmaker was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol after he was pulled over and authorities found four ecstasy pills in the car he was driving without insurance.

He also had a failure to appear warrant from 2018 from Maryland Heights, which is a suburb outside St Louis where the rapper is from, US outlets report.

Nelly began his musical career with hip hop group St. Lunatics in the 1990s, before he signed up to Universal Records and released his debut solo album Country Grammar in 2000.

This comes as it was reported the Dilemma hitmaker and Ashanti are expecting their first child and are engaged after a decades-long rollercoaster romance.

In April this year noughties musician Ashanti announced the news on Instagram as she shared a video of herself getting ready for a performance.

‘Uh, I’m gonna need about nine months,’ Ashanti says in the video in response to her mum asking when she will be ready.

Ashanti also confirmed she and Nelly are engaged while talking to Essence.

‘This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,’ she said.

‘Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.’
