The new season of Celebrity Race Across The World is finally set to premiere tonight on BBC One, introducing viewers to a new set of stars embarking on a globe-trotting adventure.

One of the pairings is Jeff Brazier and his son Freddie Brazier, who are hoping to beat model Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi, radio presenter Scott Mills and his husband Sam Vaughan, and actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen.

Just last year, Jeff’s eldest son Bobby Brazier competed on Strictly Come Dancing, finishing as one of the runners-up with his partner Dianne Buswell.

Bobby, 21, whose mum is late Big Brother star Jade Goody, is also known for his modelling career, as well as for starring as Freddie Slater on EastEnders, for which he earned a National Television Award.

As Celebrity Race Across The World kicks off for a second time, viewers will get to know the actor’s rarely-seen brother Freddie, 19, as he makes his TV debut.

Who is Bobby Brazier’s brother Freddie Brazier?

Freddie was born in 2004, the youngest son of Jeff and Jade.

His mother Jade, who rose to fame when she starred on Big Brother in 2002, died in 2009 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Jeff, 45, and Jade were in a two-year relationship before making the decision to split in 2004.

Ahead of Celebrity Race Across The World, Jeff spoke to Metro.co.uk about what it was like to star on the BBC series with Freddie, admitting that his son initially said ‘absolutely not’ to taking part.

However, Freddie – who is ‘quite shy’ – eventually came round on the promise of an adventure after bingeing the first season of the programme.

‘I recall a time when we were climbing a mountain in Scotland and we had a guide, who was taking us off the beaten path,’ Jeff recalled.

‘In fact, he took us up a cliff face and it was torrential rain. I remember that Freddy had the ability to just bat on but Bobby didn’t.

‘Bobby was livid with me that I’d got him into this uncomfortable situation.’

But quickly backtracking, Jeff added sweetly: ‘I’m sure that Bobby would have brought a lot of strength to the table, and that it would have been a great dynamic, just a different one.’

Jeff added that Freddie ‘really needed the experience’ ahead of turning 20 in September, as he believes he ‘needs a greater sense of self-worth and purpose’.

The TV presenter felt that his youngest son ‘definitely came home with a perspective and an insight that he wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for the race experience’.

As for whether Freddie will follow in his family’s footsteps to embark on a career in showbiz, Jeff said that the 19-year-old is ‘really happy with what he’s doing at the moment’, and his ‘confidence has definitely grown’ from doing Celebrity Race Across The World.

‘But I’d say [a career in showbusiness] wouldn’t necessarily still be something that he’s trying to build on,’ he added.

The new season of Celebrity Race Across The World premieres tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
