Liam Payne is facing backlash on social media for a snarky comment he made in one of his girlfriend Kate Cassidy’s TikToks.
The former One Directioner, 30, appeared in the short clip in which the couple showed off their outfits prior to going out for sushi in Manchester.
Kate 25, showed off a waistcoat and capri set paired with designer heels and handbag, while Liam sported a baggier designer look.
After Kate detailed her outfit, Liam said, with a deadpan look: ‘Looking good, nice and covered up for once.’
Some fans took issue with the comment, accusing Liam of shaming his girlfriend for her outfit choices.

Another user, @blaken, accused Liam of hypocrisy, writing: ‘Liam you have a song called Strip That Down, make up your mind’

User @evie posted: ‘I’m so confused why people are annoyed with what liam said.’
Soon, the backlash got so loud that Kate took to TikTok to address the controversy.
She starts the video by saying: ‘I’ve been seeing this comments that Liam is misogynistic because he made a comment that I’m covered up for once.’
The model goes on to say that she actually suggested prior that Liam make a comment about how she’s actually dressed up for once because ‘If you look at my Instagram I don’t honestly usually cover up too much.’

She then goes on to say that he doesn’t care about what she wears.
She then laughed at commenters calling Liam a hypocrite for the comment since he has a song called Strip That Down, at which point Liam grabs the camera, turning it around to reveal he’s been sitting across from his girlfriend the whole time.
He clarifies that the song is about keeping music production stripped down.
Kate is the latest in Liam’s string of high profile relationships, including a brief romance with Cheryl, with whom he shares a son.
Kate and Liam have been dating since 2022.
