It might be 58 years since England has won the World Cup but according to Football Manager, football will come home eventually.

The great thing about simulator games like Football Manager is that they allow you to experiment in a number of ways, whether that’s trying new tactics never used before or giving a tiny non-league club millions, just to see what they do with all the money.

There are countless examples of funny exercises, such as that time a fan turned every Tottenham player into a version of Cristian Romero, and when someone injected their save with the ‘manflu’, infecting 56,059 players.

Now a Football Manager 2023 fan has loaded up a save with the full English league system, and simulated it for 200 years into the future. If its prediction are anywhere near correct, it’s great reading for Manchester United supporters.

The year is 2227 AD and Manchester United is ‘far and away England’s most dominant team’, having won 87 Premier League titles, according to Dan Baker, who posted his experiment on Reddit.

It gets better if you’re a United fan, as rivals Manchester City haven’t won a league title in 142 years.

There are other surprises too, like West Brom winning nine Premier League titles and six Champions Leagues, while Fulham won the league 10 times and the Champions League three times.

It’s been a long time since England has won an international tournament – you have to go back to 1966 when they won the World Cup on home soil – but in Baker’s experiment the Lions have won it an impressive nine times by 2227.

If you think transfer fees are getting out of hand today, they only continue to rise in the future (at least on Football Manager), as Manchester United are the big spenders with the two most expensive deals for a player, at £318 million and £299 million.

The experiment also highlights some foreign leagues, which are dominated by a smaller range of teams.

According to Football Manager, by 2227 Paris Saint-Germain has won every single league title in France over the course of the 200 year experiment, except for just seven off years.

In Spain, every La Liga trophy except one (Valencia) has been lifted by either Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Atletico Madrid.
