WWE icon Beth Phoenix has confirmed she has officially left the company.

The 43-year-old so-called Glamazon – who is married to fellow Hall of Famer Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland – first signed for the wrestling giant back in 2004 and went onto make her Raw debut in 2006, followed by a move to SmackDown in 2009.

She hasn’t appeared on screen in over a year, with her final match coming at Elimination Chamber in February 2023 when she teamed with Edge against Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor

After reports surfaced last month that she is no longer under contract, the former Women’s Champion has confirmed that is the case.

‘I’m not,’ she replied when asked by Insight’s Chris Van Vliet if she was still with the company. ‘I am currently a free agent.’

While Beth spoke fondly of her career with WWE, which she put on hold in 2012 to focus on her family, she is excited to explore ‘other opportunities that have presented themselves’.

‘I have a great relationship with WWE. I treasured my time there. I feel like there is more and other opportunities that have presented themselves and I feel the motivation now to explore and explore what else is out there and explore myself,’ she said.

Beth, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017, first left the company in 2012, before returning in various roles the year after her induction, including a stint on the NXT commentator team which started in 2019.

‘My relationship with WWE hasn’t changed. I have so many friends there and I appreciate and enjoy the product as I always have. I love NXT,’ she added.

‘I have a special place in my heart for NXT and the system. Seeing people come up and go through that excitement of developing themselves for the big time. I love WWE. I always will.’

Looking to the future, Beth refused to rule out wrestling again, with AEW presumably an option ever since her husband joined WWE’s rival in last year.

She coyly said: ‘I give the age-old cliche answer that everybody hates, never say never. But it really just depends on the opportunities and what suits our family, that’s really it.’

Her partnership with Santino Marella made for hilarious television (Picture: WWE)

Throughout her career, Beth became a decorated champion, holding the Divas Title and becoming a three-time Women’s Champion.

She enjoyed success in various storylines, including the Divas of Doom tag team with fellow veteran Natalya, and the odd-couple Glamarella partnership with Santino Marella.
